Mount Stuart Campsite

October 2022

After over fifty years as a scouting group the 11th Waterford has just launched its most ambitious project yet, with the purchase of a 7.6 acre mature forestry site in Mount Stuart to be developed into a multi-purpose campsite. As well as a campsite, the site will feature zip lines, rope walks, an obstacle course, a dug-out trench for bridge building, and nature walks which will include a sensory garden area. The site will also have a hammock area, a backwoods training area, an outdoor cinema, a raised fire pit and seating area and an outdoor pizza oven and barbeque. The site will be a base for the Dungarvan scout group’s outdoor activities such as hiking, hill walking, navigation, mountain pursuits and cycling and their active water-based programme with activities like kayaking, rowing, sailing, swimming and more. All of these activities will be based from the Mount Stuart camp, with onsite facilities as well as easy access to mountains, hills, rivers and the sea to continue with further outdoor activities.
